Blessing the Belly

ETA: Here is current status of belly. (Very. Round.)

Guess what I did yesterday??? I got my belly beautifully blessed and adorned with henna! The woman who beautified my belly was a true artist. Soniya, you rock! I highly recommend you give Soniya, and henna a try once. It's so different, so beautiful and such fun! Try it for a bridal shower, baby shower, Girls' Night In party, etc. She will travel to you, or you can go to her (in the Heights).
And if any of you read the blog All & Sundry, yes, I totally copied her idea.

Behold - THE BELLY:

I'll post one more picture once the dark henna you see flakes off and fades to the burnt orangey color.

Some Stuff...

Hey! That cool song that I blogged about in the post right below this one - IT WON THE ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST SONG!! Deservedly so. Take a listen if you haven't already.

I am officially ready to get this baby out of my body. Just sayin'.

I feel completely disorganized and want to lie in my bed (on my left side with leg hiked over a pillow) all day long (and hide from the world).

Zero patience.

STILL HAVE NO BABY NAMES. Thank you for all your suggestions by the way! I have just not heard "the one".

Have no idea if it's a boy or a girl and it's freaking me out a little.

Have abandoned hope of a VBAC and will have my second c-section on March 12th. Two weeks from Wednesday! Yikers!!!!

Overall feeling frazzled and a bit out of the driver's seat right now.

Just sayin', ya'll.

I love music

My friend/college roommate/person who knows everything about me keeps a poorly maintained blog over here, but her latest post alerted me to some absolutely beautiful music and a movie I have moved to the top of my Netflix queue. Take a listen: (especially you, Farrell!)

Playing Around

Some still life plant shots I took over the weekend. I monkeyed around with texture and color.

Love These Folks

It's so fun to meet a client that you want to be friends with. Here is the lovely Stacy Mc and her boys.

When I grow up...

I want to look like Ella. Her baby brother Brody is just precious, too. Good genes, eh?

One Year Ago Today

(Click on photo to enlarge it, and you may dowload it to include in an email to all of your friends with children to remind them of car safety in the hot months.)
One year ago today, little Ava was lost. I want to honor her memory and encourage us all to hug our babies tighter today, try not to sweat the little things, and stop to enjoy every precious moment we have with our loved ones.

Please take a moment to light a candle for the Rosemeyer family here.
Read more from Ava's beautiful mom, Sheye, at her beautiful blog.
I will never forget Ava and her story.

I'm changing - and embracing the flaws

I love photography. Obviously. It's a way I have finally found (after 33 years) to express my emotions without having to explain them or talk about them. Sometimes I get in trouble when trying to do that. Through pictures, the end result says it all.

The sessions I have done this year (2008) have already produced some of my best, most fufilling work. However, a change has come about. I find myself drawn to some of the photos that are the least technically correct. I also find myself drawn to lots of grain/noise, new textures, techniques, and color variations that add depth and mood to an image. I by no means take credit for this revelation. I'm a complete photographer stalker and have recently drawn the most inspiration from the following photographers: Anna Kuperberg, Jesh de Rox, and Sheye Rosemeyer. I'll post some of my own recent favorites below so you get a sense of what I mean. Tell me what you think.

t.g.i.f.

Just plain sweet.

VERY.PERSONAL.QUESTION.

Uh, this is awkward, but I thought most (ok, all) of you are probably women with children who view this blog and I would like to ask your opinion on...circumcision...

What are you views, if you care to share. You can leave them in the comments section anonymously, or email me at saramoonphotography@gmail.com.

I would never share your info with anyone, I am just not sure about this matter if we have a boy.

Told ya it was personal.
